I'm Wendy Cruz-Chan, an Indigenous Latina born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and married with 3 children. In 2014, I witnessed my first home-birth which inspired me to become a doula. I began my Doula career pro bono in a non-profit organization in NYC called, "Ancient Song Doula Services". I supported those who were low-income, the undocumented, teens, families living in homeless shelters, LGBTQ, sexual trauma victims and those in need overall with little to no resources.
Soon after, I became certified through "Doula Training International" (DTI). My experience at DTI strengthened me and my abilities as a Doula. It was important for me to know birthing rights in ANY birth setting and teach to parents how to advocate for their health and that of their unborn child. I believe in giving the highest quality of Doula care regardless of status.

I Mother the Mother. That means, I provide physical and non-bias emotional support throughout your pre/post-natal. Providing the help you didn't know you needed. I'm a huge believer of "Slow and steady wins the race" in a birth setting. Rushing a natural process of labor, when there's no high risk to both Mother and unborn baby. Can lead to unnecessary medical interventions. Which can cause more harm than good, creating a negative experience. By slowing down and allowing the laboring Mother to go through the natural process of labor. It also allows time to undertake any issue then may arise and explore more options.

"As a mother myself, having personally gone through both hospitalized and birthing center environments, I’ve walked away with memories to last a lifetime. I was reminded each time why I founded Wendy’s Doula Services in 2014. Having a voice to advocate for myself along with my own doula helped me personally in so many ways, ultimately feeling empowered from birth through raising my children today. "
