I'm Wendy Cruz-Chan, an Indigenous Latina born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and married with 2 children. In 2014, I witnessed my first home-birth which inspired me to become a doula. I began my Doula career pro bono in a non-profit organization in NYC called, "Ancient Song Doula Services". I supported those who were low-income, the undocumented, teens, families living in homeless shelters, LGBTQ, sexual trauma victims and those in need overall with little to no resources.
Soon after, I became certified through "Doula Training International" (DTI). My experience at DTI strengthened me and my abilities as a Doula. It was important for me to know birthing rights in ANY birth setting and teach to parents how to advocate for their health and that of their unborn child. I believe in giving the highest quality of Doula care regardless of status.
I Mother the Mother. That means, I provide physical and non-bias emotional support throughout your pre/post-natal. Providing the help you didn't know you needed.
"As a mother myself, having personally gone through both hospitalized and birthing center environments, I’ve walked away with memories to last a lifetime. I was reminded each time why I founded Wendy’s Doula Services in 2014. Having a voice to advocate for myself along with my own doula helped me personally in so many ways, ultimately feeling empowered from birth through raising my children today. "
